Tags and licenses
Where do I get a tag?
A tag, a title, or a driver license follows the county, not the city hall and not the ZIP code. In Duval, Clay, and St. Johns, that office is the tax collector. Duval’s number is (904) 255-5700.
Duval County
This covers Jacksonville, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach, and Baldwin. The Kernan branch on Atlantic Boulevard closed July 24, 2026, and the Hogan Road branch closed September 2, 2026. Both were replaced by St. Johns Square at 11160 Beach Boulevard. A Neptune Beach branch is still open at 1505 Atlantic Boulevard. Road tests are walk-in, Tuesday through Thursday, at the branches named on the listing. Many renewals are on the collector’s site.
Clay County
Wednesday opens at 9 a.m. The other weekdays open at 8 a.m. Branch phones for Green Cove Springs, Orange Park, Middleburg, and Keystone are on the listing.
St. Johns County
Road tests are by appointment. Written tests at the main office stop at 4 p.m. Dupont Center and Julington Creek handle tags and express driver license services.
The tax bill is the same office
The collector also sends the property-tax bill. The appraiser sets the value. Duval’s November discount is on the tax bill page.
